This week I was invited to Paris for the exclusive launch of the limited Coca-Cola light bottles designed by none other than Jean Paul Gaultier. There were two events: a launch & press conference in the afternoon and a big launch party at night.
The afternoon press conference was held in a unique burlesque club, called Crazy Horse. After three amazing performances the bottles were revealed and everyone (including me) got a chance to ask mister Gaultier their questions. I didn’t really know what to expect, but Jean Paul Gaultier turned out to be a very charming man. He was super enthusiastic, answered every question elaborately and even made some cool remarks and jokes along the way. He for instance spoke about eating spaghetti in bed and how he made his teddy bear a transvestite since he gave him a bra(!). The great thing about the press conference was the fact that he answered non-Coca-Cola questions as well. So JPG revealed that he is again designing the costumes for Madonna’s upcoming tour and doesn’t at all feel like the sixty years he’s turning next week.
That evening, after we had a great dinner near the Jardin des Tuileries, we went to the party, where we enjoyed yet anther on stage spectacle. Jean Paul Gaultier even joyed the dancing girls on stage for a little performance himself! When the Coca-Cola light bottles were revealed he left and singer Dragonette performed her hit ‘Hello’, followed by a female DJ.
As it got later most of the fashion crowd had already left the building and there were only a few more people on the dance floor (including me). Then all of a sudden JPG appeared again, not on stage but on the floor. He even did a little dance himself and I got a chance to go on a picture with him (Yay!).
