Here´s how you create your own ombre fashion item

As you probably already noticed I am quite a fan of the ombre – dégradé look. At Zara I already bought a pink sweater in this style and last week I figured I might as well create my own ombre item. So I set up a new little DIY project for myself and this is how it turned out. I´m pretty happy with the result. Do you like the ombre T-shirt I created?

Wanna dip dye something yourself? Here how it goes:

Buy any kind of cotton fashion item you would like to color, preferably white.
Look for a place that sells fabric paint (I bought mine at A. Boeken in Amsterdam).
Mix your fabric paint powder with warm water and a bit of salt.
Put the lower part of your fabric in it.
The color will soon start spreading over your item. This will already create an ombre effect. Yet to make the dégradé effect stronger you can put a little bit more of your fabric into the bowl every hour.
Check the result every hour and stop once you´re happy with the result.
Make sure your wear gloves when handling the dyed garment (I had Smurf hands for two days!).
Wash your dyed garment separately the first time to avoid your other laundry from getting a color treatment too.

Good luck!
